DOMAIN FOUR: PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

4f Showing Professionalism

In the fall, with the help of the professional organization Discovery Education, I planned and organized a professional development event for all of the school districts in the Pittsburgh and nortwestern Pennsylvania area. Members of the DEN (Discovery Educator Network) team came to support me as our city had been chosen as one of the first on a nationwide tour called the DENAPALOOZA Tour where discovery educators would flock to cities to spend a Saturday to network and learn about integrating technology in their classroom. Below is the website I created for the event. I was very proud that four teachers from our district came to the event.

On a daily basis, I try to show professionalism by reaching out to my colleagues and helping them with skills that I may may have. These are usually related to technology or Discovery Education.

CREEK CONNECTIONS

Creek Connections is a program run by Allegheny College. I attended a training in the summer so I would be more knowledgeable and more able to help the kids with the program throughout the school year. For my attendance, I received a stipend for which I used to buy a raised bed garden and training for the students from the professional who built the bed. Attached are pictures of Creek connection and the raised bed project. Students in the Creek Connections program were also given the opportunity to create a Science Fair project and attend a Symposium at Alleghney College.
