DOMAIN FOUR: PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

4c Communicating with Families

Families were invited into our classroom everyday by way of our "Picture a Day" blog, Classroom website, and the many other  websites we created that showed off all of our classroom projects. In addition, here are some more traditional forms of communication.

Below are a variety of ways I reached out to parents this year. These are by no means even a small example. Much of communication was done through texting (Ex: "Can Suzie stay after school until 4:30 today?"), some through phone calls and other through email. Below are more formal ways of giving parents written notification of a big project or event coming up or request for permission for something we are doing or somewhere we are going.

There were a variety of opportunities for familiies to join in the festivities of our class. In addition to the typical classroom parties and open house, we had other fabulous events in and out of the classroom. Here are just a few of the events that we shared with families: an exclusive art opening at the local hospital, two international video conferences at one of the student's homes, Colonial Day, Pi Day, Grandparent's Day and they were even invited to school on a Saturday for a virtual conference we were doing. Enjoy pictures of some of the events below.
