DOMAIN FOUR: PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

4c Communicating with Families

Families were invited into our classroom everyday by way of our "Picture a Day" blog, Classroom website, and the many other  websites we created that showed off all of our classroom projects. In addition, here are some more traditional forms of communication.

Below are a variety of ways I reached out to parents this year. These are by no means even a small example. Much of communication was done through texting (Ex: "Can Suzie stay after school until 4:30 today?"), some through phone calls and other through email. Below are more formal ways of giving parents written notification of a big project or event coming up or request for permission for something we are doing or somewhere we are going.

On our class website, there is a link to lesson plans that parents can view. On the plans are links to resources for every topic we are learning about. In addition, there is a link to students' weekly homework goals. Not only can parents see all of their child's homework, they can print out the homework by clicking on provided links on the site.

All of the parents in my class have my cell phone number and are encouraged to call me any time they have a question or problem.
